Pickleball in Prineville, Oregon
Prineville pickleball centers on six public courts beside Ochoco Creek, close to downtown and the park's walking paths, playground, pavilions, and restrooms. The courts support casual games and an active local club. Players who want indoor conditions, daily programming, or a formal beginner path can also use Premier Pickleball Club in nearby Redmond.
Where to play
Ochoco Creek Park, 455 NE Juniper Street, has six public pickleball courts created from the former tennis courts. The park is open from dawn to dusk. The pickleball gates use a combination code issued by Crook County Parks and Recreation District at 541-447-1209, so players need the code before arriving.
Premier Pickleball Club, 2405 SW First Street in Redmond, is the useful indoor alternative outside Prineville. Courts can be reserved through CourtReserve, and daily events cover multiple skill levels. The climate controlled setting is valuable during winter cold, summer heat, and smoky periods.
Pickleball lessons
New players have a clear starting point at Premier Pickleball Club: a free introductory lesson or one of its beginner events. The indoor setting and scheduled format make it easier to learn before joining faster public court games.
Prineville players who prefer instruction closer to home can use the Coaches section. A first lesson should cover scoring, serves, returns, kitchen line movement, and basic doubles position. After that, games at Ochoco Creek Park provide room to practice with a regular partner group.
Pickleball events
The active Prineville pickleball club organizes group play at Ochoco Creek Park. The public courts are the local gathering place, and the club gives residents a way to join group games instead of bringing a complete foursome.
Premier Pickleball Club runs events throughout the week for different ability levels. Its weekly events page and CourtReserve portal provide the direct route into round robins, skill sessions, and other organized games.
Visitors
Visitors who already have partners should use Ochoco Creek Park. The courts are central, public, and next to useful park amenities. Get the gate code from Crook County Parks and Recreation District before the trip, then bring paddles, balls, water, and sun protection.
A solo visitor has a more predictable route at Premier Pickleball Club in Redmond. Registering for a skill appropriate event supplies partners and opponents, and indoor play removes weather uncertainty. The Redmond option is also the better choice for a complete beginner because the club offers a free first lesson.
